Queries

A query lets you search for specific information in a table. The results of the query can be sorted and printed in the same way as when you are dealing with tables. Queries can be saved for future use and can be edited later. Queries are also dynamic, which means that if data in the table changes the query based on that table will automatically be updated when the table is opened again.

This section covers the following topics:

  • Creating a query
  • Queries at Higher level

Overview

Queries at Higher level

At Higher level, queries are more complex than at N4 and N5, and usually involve up to four criteria. Most searches you have carried out until now have involved finding an exact match of a word or words you are looking for under the appropriate field, or finding dates or numbers using mathematical symbols such as > for ‘greater than’. The table on page 25 of your Study Guide is a summary of the different parameters you will now be expected to use.
