About Us
Bright Red Publishing is a multi-award-winning independent publishing company which develops high quality resources for Scottish secondary school teachers and students. In 2013, we collaborated with Professor Bill Buchanan at Edinburgh Napier University to create our original online Digital Zone to offer extensive (and free) support for Scotland’s students and teachers during a time of immense educational change.
Since the start of the Bright Red journey in 2008, we have:
- Twice been named UK Educational Publishing Company of the Year at the Independent Publishing Guild Awards.
- Twice been shortlisted for UK Independent Publisher of the Year Award at the Bookseller Industry Awards.
- Won the Local Business Accelerator: Edinburgh award in June 2013
- Been Highly Commended at both The Bookseller Industry Awards and the Interface Excellence Awards.
- Won the Stationers’ Company Innovation Excellence Award for our Digital Zone.
Our small team manage all aspects of the business from our office and warehouse in Fife and we are proud to serve and supply schools, teachers, parents and students right across Scotland – from Stranraer to Stromness.

Textbook Stuff is our new podcast which we have created to shine a light on our Study Guides and offer the inside story on our books. We have interviewed our expert teacher authors who have spent many months (and sometimes years) writing our Course Books and Study Guides. You can find out a bit about them, their subject and how they developed all of the excellent content.
